Life is so much better outdoors. That's why we want to help you create and maintain public and commercial spaces that get people outside.
Wentworth's commercial and municipal division is committed to working within strict budgets and timelines to develop and maintain purpose-driven spaces. Each outdoor space is thoughtfully designed and crafted with a vision to improve the overall health and happiness of communities by local teams who live and play in the very same communities they help you develop.
Planning & Budget Development
Every successful project begins with a clear plan. It allows us to make the experience smooth by setting clear expectations around budgets, timelines, and deliverables. We can create a proposal, or help you develop your existing plan.
PUBLIC ENGAGEMENT
Wentworth has experience effectively engaging the public through community consultation meetings, or through other mediums such as online communication, surveys, direct mail and comment boards.
BUDGET PLANNING
Realistic construction budgets can be hard to come by. With years of experience budgeting for public and private projects, bids and tenders, we've developed a process that allows us to prepare preliminary budgets that closely align with the proposed concepts. Once the concepts are approved, and drawings signed off, a Class B development budget that considers all the details for construction is prepared.
Purpose-Driven Landscape Design
Practicality is the heart of each design. Because every project is unique, our process starts by collaborating with our clients to identify the need. Once all requirements, budgets and timelines are specified, our team begins to design spaces that take into consideration the behaviour and limitations of the end user.
We engage key stakeholders through a variety of methods such as public information sessions and consultations. Our team has experience in both facilitating these meetings, and extrapolating key learnings from them.
Once the spaces are laid out, our design team recommends the best plants for each location, and our design team selects the most long-lasting materials. Our recommendations are based on location, usage, and of course...maintenance.
Our success comes from responding to our clients’ project needs with a design that is anchored in creativity, experience, and enduring craftsmanship.
In addition to commercial and municipal landscape design, we specialize in the following:
- Master Plans
- Naturalized Playgrounds
- Green Roofs
- Waterfront Development
- Green Infrastructure
- Naturalization Design
- Wayfinding, Interpretive and Project Signage
Landscapes accessible by all.
We believe everyone should be able to enjoy the outdoors, regardless of their age, physical or mental limitations. Our design team strives to create spaces that ignite all our senses. Every detail is considered; from the textures on the pavevement to the scent of the flowers. We are committed to giving everyone the same opportunity to access and enjoy the spaces we create.
Our team has received Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) training, and our designers work in accordance with all provincial regulations.
Keeping projects on track.
Project management is critical to keep projects on track, and to make your experience smooth. Each project is assigned a project manager who will keep in constant communication around timelines, budgets and any relevant details as the project moves along. Project managers oversee all the moving parts of a project and ensure our processes are being followed from start to finish — from the startup meetings, to final signs offs.
Come Alive Outside!
We see every project as an opportunity to create or maintain outdoor spaces that foster healthy living. That's why we are a founding sponsor ot Come Alive Outside — a nonprofit organization that works with the landscape profession to get people off the couch and back outside in communities across North America.
Together we wish to "inspire collaborative community systems that create the awareness, intention and opportunity for people to live healthier lives outside."
